The Robotics Team and Club are for students in grades 6-8. They use the Lego Mindstorms series of kits, which contain software and hardware to create small, customizable and programmable robots. They include a programmable brick computer that controls the system, a set of modular sensors and motors, and Lego parts from the Technics line to create the mechanical systems.
The Robotics Team runs from August 1st through December 1st. The Robotics Team is limited to 10 participants, per the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Lego League. Our team meets to prepare for tournament competition in November. The team is judged on 4 areas in competition: Teamwork, Research Project, Robot Design and Table Mission Programming. Applications to the Robotics Team are accepted in May.
Our Robotics Club is open to all interested middle school students. Robotics Club runs from December through May 31st. The Robotics Club creates innovative robot designs, completes mission challenges and enjoys robot battles against other club members in speed, control, and strength.
The Robotics Club and Team focus on FIRST Lego League’s theme of Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®.
